Philippine Medical Society of Northern California
Organizational Structure:
  • The PMSNC composed of 4 regions: San Francisco/San Mateo, Santa Clara,
    Alameda/Contra Costa, and Napa/Solano/Monterey.

  • There are twenty (20) officers are elected annually with the President position rotating
    among the four regions.

  • There are seven (7) standing committees namely:
  • EXECUTIVE
  • MEMBERSHIP
  • BY LAWS
           Responsible for amending by-laws in keeping up with changing
    requirements.
  • CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)
           A monthly CME dinner meetings is conducted with one full hour
    accreditations. A Mentor-Mentee Program, as an offshoot of the CME
    committee, was established in which pre-medical students rotate through
    member physicians.
  •  SCHOLARSHIP
           The Scholarship Trust Fund was created as brainchild of Dr. Jose
    Rodriguez as a foundation with more than $100K asset. Three or four scholars
    are selected annually and provided grants of $1K each from the dividends
    generated from the trust funds.
  •   MEDICAL MISSIONS
           Oversees the annual medical missions to the Philippines with operating
    budgets of $15K per year from the society. It has served more than 9,000
    patients including minimum of 200 surgeries in a week's stay in the Philippines.
  •   INTER-SOCIETY RELATIONS
           Pro-actively pursuing public advocacy and solicitation of funds for its
    philanthropic activities. It has moved ahead as a prominent contributor to the
    cause of the Ethic Physicians Organization after participated in 2 EPO summits.

The Philippine Medical Society of Northern California (PMSNC) was established in 1972 by a group of
Filipino physicians who started as a social organization, to encourage fellowship amongst Filipino
medical doctors and to turned it as a more philanthropic turn for the society.
